What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Associate, Immune Tolerance position at Moderna Therapeutics?
The Role:
Moderna’s Immune Therapeutics Discovery function has an opportunity for a hands-on discovery biologist to support exploratory and early development programs against a variety of therapeutic targets, using in vitro and ex vivo analytical methods to evaluate immune modulation. The individual in this role will be primarily responsible for supporting b asic and applied research including the immunopathology of autoimmune disorders and the mechanism of tolerance induction. Applicants should be collaborative team members with excellent organizational and communication skills and a strong desire to contribute in the laboratory. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in tissue processing, flow cytometry acquisition, and data analysis.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
In vitro assays requiring culture of various cell lines and primary immune cells.
Additional experience with molecular biology and biochemistry such as qPCR and western blot is strongly preferred.
Experience with animal handling and tissue collection, and processing for downstream analysis is strongly preferred.
Maintain and communicate detailed written records of experiments and results.
Under guidance, design and execute cell-based immunological assays to advance drug candidate profiling
Follow standard scientific techniques and methods to perform experiments at the bench
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:
A BS/BA (life science major) with 1-2 years of laboratory work experience, industry experience preferred.
The ability to work in a cross-functional work environment is critical; flexibility and independence are expected.
Experience with flow cytometry and data analysis preferred.
Good written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
Enthusiasm for science and strong drive to learn laboratory skills
