Position Summary:
The Import CHB Coordinator supports Mohawk’s air/ocean import transportation by leveraging Mohawk’s partner relationships as well as their own unique problem solving and analytical skills to assist our customers. The Import CHB Coordinator regularly and directly interfaces with Mohawk’s clients and suppliers to ensure a high level of performance in the movement of goods through the supply chain, from start to finish. The Import CHB Coordinator possesses an inquisitive mindset to investigate and resolve problem shipments and other aspects of freight management, whether they be air, land or sea as necessary.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Receive, review, verify and process import documentation from overseas agents/customers
- Timely preparation of rates and quotes for customers and overseas agents
- Ensure Importer Security Filing (ISF) compliance
- Problem solve, ask questions of importers, U.S. Customs & Border Protection and other Government agencies
- Data entry into CargoWise tracking system
- Inform delivering parties of customs clearance, delivery instructions and required information
- Track and trace shipments, researching and resolving any issues regarding billing or shipping discrepancies, communicate timely correspondence back to both customers and vendors
- Collaborate and build relationships with customers, carriers, and agent representatives regarding air and ocean import to strengthen service competitiveness
- Finalize files with billing charges, complete billing invoices and files and maintain completed folders
- Provide reporting and analytics as required by customers
- Complete other duties as assigned
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Comfortable working with large, complex importers
- Strong experience with import transportation to the US, with understanding of the business and cultural complexities associated with importing.
- Working knowledge of CargoWise logistics platform strongly preferred
- Ability to work calmly under pressure from customers and overseas partners
- Desire to work toward a role in commercial account management
- 3-5 years of import experience required
- College degree (Associates or Bachelors) preferred; major/concentration in logistics, supply chain, business, accounting or other applicable field of study preferred
- Comfortable working in a team-focused environment
- Self-motivated individual with high level of enthusiasm
- Creative thinker with competitive desire to meet and exceed customer expectations
- Ability to interact effectively with internal and external contacts at all levels
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to multi-take and make quick decisions in a fast-paced, ever changing work environment
- Possess a working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Possess an analytical ability to gather and summarize data for reports and correspondence
