What are the responsibilities and job description for the Die Setter - 3rd shift position at Molded Devices Inc.?
OVERVIEW:
A Die Setter sets up injection molding machines and secondary/assembly equipment to ensure proper sequence of operation to produce a wide variety of molded parts that meet customer’s specification.
You should be reliable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards and be willing to learn and improve. We also expect you to be a good team player.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Remove and install molds in plastic injection molding machines. Return molds to proper storage area.
• Set up machines for continuous production by positioning and aligning mold, connecting water, hydraulics and air feed as required.
• Adjust machine control settings to prescribed setup for the part
• Shut down molding machines by performing proper lockout procedures, purging material, removing die from the machine, etc.
• Complete required documentation such as tool change reports and production logs accurately and in a timely manner
• Maintain housekeeping goals (wipe down machine and clean machine area at end of set up)
• Work toward continuous improvement of all mold change and machine set up procedures (goal from start to completion is 45 min)
• Must to be able to make decisions while setting up molding machines and processing, including trouble shooting as required to meet quality and customer requirements.
• Perform all other duties assigned
Other Duties:
• Attends training as required for position and company goals
• Meets department safety with no time lost and addresses safety issues immediately
• Improves Molding OTD and meet established goals
• Reduces time it takes to set up tooling (goal is 45 min)
• Meets cost savings goals and quality goals.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Considerable knowledge of mold setups, molding machines, molding inspection, molded parts, auxiliary and secondary equipment,
• Knowledge of basic measuring equipment and blue print reading
• Ability to train and supervise lower-level personnel
• Good Communication Skills

Fast pace office and manufacturing environment which can be demanding and some stress; including some noise, dust, thermoplastic and oil odors at times.
Physical Demands
Sitting, standing, bending and walking over extended periods of time in a manufacturing environment involving noise, dust, and some stress. Lifting up to 50 pounds
