What we're looking for

Momentive is seeking a VP of Data to lead our data strategy and operations, and unlock the value embedded in our Data assets. The VP of Data is much more than an operational role: Momentive's core strategy is to create new lines of business from its Data assets. You will be a "startup entrepreneur" who can envision the strategy, team, and products that are enabled by the breadth and depth of Momentive's business, while having the experience to build a world class data strategy.

Reporting to the CIO, you will scale and evolve Momentive's Data Analytics, Data Science and Data infrastructure functions, enabling the larger organization to effectively leverage our data assets to better understand their business.

This role is a mix of data strategy, engineering, data science and startup leadership. You will need to be a combination of evangelist for data sharing, technologist who envisions the future roadmap, and an entrepreneurial developer of new data infrastructure and products.

You will

• Own the strategy, roadmap and cross-functional team tasked with the creation of a holistic Data strategy aimed at improving how Momentive collects, uses, manages, and publishes data
• Ideate and deliver against a technical vision for the next generation of Momentive's data platform and infrastructure, including real-time personalization of the site experience
• Establish Momentive as a leading data platform, measured by outside benchmarks, speaking engagements, and industry visibility
• Lead our efforts to combine real-time web events, machine learning models, databases, and linkages between datasets to surface opportunities and insights that enable Momentive to optimize our business
• Ensure data is available, reliable, consistent, accessible, and secure to support the mission and activities of our business, leveraging Momentive's scale to create a competitive advantage
• Develop and drive a data self service architecture and associated processes for Data Consumers and Analysts across the business
• Collaborate with cross-functional leadership to evangelize a culture of data sharing and data-driven decision-making across the business
• Work with the CIO/CISO to develop data quality measures and practices to improve Momentive's data and to protect sensitive information
• Recruit, lead and retain experienced Data Science, Engineering, and Business Intelligence talent
• Empower Momentive's Engineering and Product teams to utilize suite of data analytics, data science, and big data technology both as contributors and self-service customers
• Collaborate with Engineering and Product leaders to make decisions on products, services and technical architectures that support the Momentive product roadmap and vision

You have

• Demonstrated excellence in Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, and Data Science
• Experience delivering on complex data-intensive projects
• 10 years of people management in Data Engineering, IT, and Data Science
• 5 years' experience Data Science and/or Business Intelligence
• 5 years' experience in Machine Learning
• Excellent communication, business transformation, and people management skills
• Experience hiring, building, and scaling technical teams
• Experience shaping organizational data governance
• Curiosity and passion for data science, technical systems, and data products
• Experience with R/Python and best of breed Data Infrastructure, Business Intelligence and Data engineering solutions
