What are the responsibilities and job description for the HR Generalist position at Monarch Steel of Alabama, Inc.?
Under guidance of the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist will assist in advising employees, supervisors, managers, and executives in appropriate and consistent organization-wide methods in the following areas: hiring, payroll and benefits, training, and employee relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Embraces the 1 T.E.A.M. culture.
· Recruit, phone screen, interview and select applicants to present to management as requested.
· Conduct new employee orientation and oversee onboarding process to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
· Serves as a liaison between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts to drive resolution of company policy and helping resolve work-related opportunities.
· Administrator for 401(k), health benefits, short- & long-term disability, FMLA, FSLA, and COBRA.
· Perform difficult HR conversations and responsibilities, including employee disciplinary procedures in conjunction with the department leadership.
· Administer OSHA safety responsibilities and guidelines as required.
· Point of contact for location’s unemployment and workers compensation insurance programs.
· Run HR reports, as requested.
· Supports employee engagement initiatives throughout the organization.
· Supports performance management program timeline and review process.
· Performs additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Knowledge of laws, legal codes, precedents, government regulations, and regulatory agency rules.
· Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
· Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
· Proficient in basic Microsoft programs and windows-based applications
· Strong verbal and written communication
· Familiarity with benefits and other wage deductions, basic understanding of tax procedures.
· Effectively prioritize multiple tasks, strong organizational skills

· N/A
Education Requirements
· Associate’s or bachelor’s degree, preferred.
· Minimum of 2-4 years Human Resources, preferred
· Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferred
Licenses/Designations and Certifications
· PHR and/or SHRM-CP, preferred
