Payroll Manager (Hybrid Role)
Centrally based in our North American Headquarters, the Payroll Manager oversees payroll operations across the U.S. This individual should be experienced in high volume, multi-state payroll with knowledge of payroll regulatory compliance across all states in which employees reside, including US and expatriate employees, and experience with payroll processing for multiple legal entities. Reporting to the SVP HR Americas, this person has primary accountability for the overall success of payroll operations for Mondi North America.
- Oversees the planning, execution, and accurate processing of weekly & bi-weekly payroll for all Mondi Americas entities, approximately 1200 employees, using ADP Workforce Now.
- Manages the year-end process to ensure accurate and timely processing of W-2s.
- Serves as the Company’s subject matter expert on all payroll related tax issues.
- Project lead for payroll related projects, including continuous development of processes.
- Serves as an escalation and reference point for all site specific stakeholders in relation to the end-to-end payroll process.
- Troubleshooting, problem-solving, and continuously improving payroll processes.
- Ensures systems are set-up and updated to reflect our current employee base, including wages, benefits, garnishments, and vacation time in line with site needs.
- Responsible for reporting on payroll taxes, deductions, summaries of earnings, paid leaves, nontaxable wages, and periodically providing relevant payroll reports to stakeholders.
- Own 3rd party vendor strategic relationships with payroll providers.
- Monitors and reviews completed payroll submissions and ensures the accuracy of records and reports prepared by site managers.
- Develops and maintain strong working relationships with business stakeholders, building a reputation as a credible and trustworthy partner to successfully influence, facilitate change initiatives and drive buy-in at all levels and all areas of the organization.
- Maintains confidentiality and security of payroll information.
Your profile
- Advanced knowledge and experience with ADP Workforce Now & Enhanced time preferred.
- Experience with Kronos & SAP Knowledge helpful.
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Knowledge of legal requirements affecting US payroll operations such as Federal, State, and Local taxation, ERISA, FLSA, and DOL regulations.
- Previous experience with multisite exempt & non-exempt populations preferred.
- Experience managing expatriate assignments & taxes helpful.
- Ability to think and work strategically; able to plan ahead and foresee opportunities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills, time management, prioritizing, and able to work with deadlines.
- Self-motivated and independent problem solving ability.
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience preferred.
