What are the responsibilities and job description for the Canning Team Leader position at Monrovia Nursery Company?
We are currently seeking to fill the role of Team Leader for Canning Department. This primarily is to assist the Canning Coach with the daily organization of the canning teams based on canning process, as well as assist with the daily quality check of material being canned. Furthermore, assist the canning coach in other functions on the nursery as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assisting the coach with the daily quality check as well in the organization of the crop area.
- Assist in assigning job task to team members as needed as well as
- Perform other tasks as directed by coach.
- Tracking of the daily process and functions on the nursery as needed.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned to meet departmental requirements.
- Effective external and internal communication with a wiliness to constantly learn and adapt.
- Ensure sound working relationships within the Monrovia organization.
- Must be available to work the following schedule:
Monday – Friday: 7:30am to 4pm
Saturday: 7:30am – 2:30pm on occasion in Spring
SUPERVISION TO BE RECEIVED : Reports directly to Canning Coach.
WORKS WITH : Other Team Leaders & Liner Propagation Coach
COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability (or strong desire to learn) to execute conflict resolution and appropriate leadership, as necessary.
- Self-motivated
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Must have the ability to effectively communicate with both coach and the areas assigned team members.
- Must be able to accurately follow instructions and perform assigned.
- Tasks with minimum supervision and be able to delegate tasks to the team.
- Ability and willingness to work in other assigned areas when directed by Coach.
- Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and Saturdays when needed.
- Ability to pass tractor test.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
- Must have some knowledge of plants and be able to perform all types of techniques within the crop area.
- Proven ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
- Communicate any anticipated obstacles or delays to management in a timely manner.
- Ability to promote strong relationships with vendors, industry groups, and community to promote the Monrovia Brand and establish a solid industry network.
- Basic reading, writing and math skills.
- Must be able to work under inclement weather conditions (hot, cold, and rain).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School or GED.
- Preferably 2-3 years in a Production experience field
