Job Summary:
The Diet Aide works under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Nutrition in an adult inpatient eating disorder treatment setting, contributing to the quality of care by providing assistance to the registered dietitians, diet technician and the mental health counselors to ensure that patients receive appropriate meals and support in the dining room.
Hours: Full-Time
Responsibilities Include:
- Assist in nourishment room organization and functioning, monitoring food safety practices, and attuning to food allergies
- Assist in the nourishment room during meal and snack times to ensure accuracy of meals served as prescribed by the registered dietitian
- Implement the use of nutritional supplements as prescribed by the registered dietitian
- Provide meal coaching to patients
- Maintain an organized log system of any issues/concerns that staff and/or patients may have with Food Service Department and address issues/concerns with Director of Clinical Nutrition Services and Support Services Director/Manager
- Work with the Quality Department on quality improvement efforts that are recommended and/or required
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Food, Nutrition, or Dietetics concentration preferred
Experience:
- 1 year work experience, preferably in a patient-facing hospital setting
Licensure/Certification:
- CPR certification
- ServSafe Certification, preferred
Required competencies:
- Communication skills, both verbal and written
- Organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize independently
- Ability to multitask and function well in a fast paced mental health environment
