JOB SUMMARY
The Prepress Desktop Specialist uses a computer to get text and graphics ready for printing. You are involved in designing and laying out the artwork, setting out text, adding digital images, and facilitating the production of files, graphics, proofs, and plates and work in concert with other departments and individuals to ensure timely resolution of problems and accurate production of customers' jobs.
Responsibilities :
- Ensure that all quality procedures are followed and maintained.
- Evaluate each job to determine the best application needed to complete the job in a correct and timely manner
- Take ownership of a client file, read the job information to ensure that all the information is available, responsible for building an accurate job according to client specifications.
- Creating Apogee files and preparing high- and low-resolution PDF file(s) for client proofing or electronic review
- You will review electronic files that are received from customers and check them for common production problems
- You will help guide customers in the creation of completed files that are compatible with our Workflow and communicate to the CSR, customer, and / or production personnel of possible issues and recommend fixes
- The position does come with occasional design work, but the majority of what we do is make our customers shine
- Transform written material and pictures into finished pages for offset, digital, and printer-s layout / impose files for printer templates
- Assist in and / or carry out the development, presentation, and execution of ideas
- Stay current with the latest retail, advertising, style, and graphic trends including system technology
- You will generate prepress proofs in digital format to approximate the appearance of the final printed piece and upload files to a prepress server for proofs to be sent to the customer for final approval
- Prepares layouts according to exact work ticket specifications using the proper systems, processes, and software programs
- Proofreads and edits all work
- Processes work tickets as required
- Prepare electronic files for proofout or print
- Find ways to improve cost in the pre-press development solutions
Qualifications for prepress technician
- Using Mac and PC platforms with a strong knowledge of Apogee, Adobe Acrobat, Enfocus Pit-stop, Adobe Creative Suite, and Flight Check Professional to check the quality of the product to be printed on press using DG3 Standard Operating Procedures.
- Pictures and television series
- Data entry of element metadata into proprietary studio computer systems
- Building and splicing of element consolidation rolls
- Providing support in building cartons and pallets of material to be shipped as directed
- Dependability
- Prompt and regular attendance. Works hours necessary to complete assignments. Conforms to company policies.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and / or training;
