POSITION TITLE: Youth Program Assistant
REPORTS TO: Youth Program Coordinator/Education Director
SUPERVISES: None
SCHEDULE: Part Time – 20 hours work week
4 hrs/day Monday-Friday
8 hrs/day for job related workshops/meetings/trainings, & youth workshops/field trips/special activities
SALARY: $15.50 Hourly (Non-Exempt)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Education Director, the Youth Program Assistant is responsible for assisting the Youth Program Coordinator in providing educational support, and educational & culturally enriching activities and programs for the youth and teens of the Mooretown Rancheria Tribe and Community.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in planning, preparing, and implementing
- Assist with activities and afterschool homework as needed.
- Together with the Youth Coordinator & Education Director, help to assist with activities in the Youth room
- Assist in researching and coordinating a variety of activities about Concow Maidu specific culture and language for youth and teens in coordination with tribal cultural programs and through arts and crafts, song and dance, storytelling, and theater arts.
- May also assist with general Native American cultural activities approved by Mooretown Rancheria Tribal Council.
- May also assist to coordinate programs and activities related to nature and the environment.
- Assist in planning and carry out a variety of activities for youth and teens, including fundraisers and recreation, to teach life skills necessary for becoming successful and responsible adults.
- Ensure that all policies and procedures for programs and activities are followed.
- Observe and report to the Education Director, & ICWA Social Services Directors any social, moral or ethical concerns involving youth or teens and their families in accordance with mandated reporting requirements and Tribal policy.
- Attend job-related workshops, seminars, or meetings.
- Responsible for ensuring clean-up occurs after activities and events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Must have the ability to tutor students in K-12 mathematics and English Language Arts.
- Must have current CPR and First Aid certification or obtain within required timeframe.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with people of all ages and different social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Experience operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software.
- Must be willing to travel on occasion during or after regular work hours.
- Must be willing and able to participate in overnight travel to include activities with youth (i.e., camping, rafting, Pow Wows, film festivals, R.O.P.E.S., Reach for the Future, and other overnight activities that have yet to be identified) that may extend beyond one day.
- Preference will be given to Native Americans (25 USCSEC. 472A).
- Must clear a pre-employment Background Investigation, pre-employment drug screening, TB screening, and a Live Scan/Fingerprinting DOJ/FBI.
