GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Payroll and Revenue Recognition Accountant is responsible for assisting the finance department in creating accurate and timely financial transactions and records for the organization related to payroll processing and resident entry fee revenue functions. This role reports to and assists the Director of Finance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for finalizing and processing payroll transactions once employee time entries are complete.
- Responsible for payroll transaction uploads into the accounting general ledger.
- Responsible for auditing payroll/retirement plan transactions to assure accuracy.
- Provides ad hoc and other reporting from the payroll system to department and executive leadership.
- Manages the general ledger mapping in the payroll system.
- Provides payroll/retirement plan transaction data for the Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and external audits.
- Responsible for revenue recognition and documentation related to resident assets and entry fees.
- Enters revenue, deferred revenue, and receivable transactions from resident assets and entry fees in appropriate system(s).
- Enters entry fee transactions for resident liability to Moose Life residents into the appropriate system(s).
- Enters transactions for resident liability to New Life Brandon Place residents into the appropriate system(s).
- Provides input on policies, systems, etc. of major importance.
- Advises management on matters of fiscal procedure and importance for the organization.
- Ensure compliance with the financial procedures of the organization.
- Acts as a team player and performs other duties as assigned to ensure department success.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- Ability to process payroll and accounting records and financial reports, to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to standards defined within the department.
- Knowledgeable in accounting principles, procedures, and policies.
- Knowledgeable in developing and implementing proper systems and methods for completing assignments.
- Knowledgeable of current related technologies, including payroll processing software.
- Moderate to medium proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and related formulas and tools.
- Ability to prioritize and complete work with minimal supervision.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Associate’s degree in a business related field or a college certificate in accounting,
AND
Minimum five years payroll / bookkeeping / accounting experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS (Typical work environment):
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This is a full-time position, and typical work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Salary : $50,000 - $60,000
