This position is responsible for the preparation and staging of raw material for machine operators. This position may rotate to different machines within the process as business needs dictate. Material Handlers are also responsible for packaging and transporting finished product for shipment. The ability to multi-task and manage a fast-paced environment where quality, safety and productivity are key competencies, is required. Morcon is a team-oriented environment where respect and reliability is a requirement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Secure work areas to maintain a safe working environment
- Prepare and stage raw material such as boxes, sleeves and paper rolls for the machine operators.
- Communicate with forklift drivers to obtain materials as needed.
- Prepare paper rolls for roll changes, cutting excess paper from roll.
- Transport packed boxes to appropriate pallets.
- Perform proper stacking method according to product type.
- Wrap stacked pallets and transport them to designated areas by using a pallet jack.
- Maintain clean working areas by removing parent roll cores, sweeping, emptying trash cans and dumping waste into bailers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be safety focused.
- Must be energetic with a positive attitude.
- Must have strong attention to detail.
- Must be highly motivated with the ability to work independently or as a team.
- Must be dependable and have reliable transportation.
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Available to work any shift.
- 2 years material handling experience with frequent use of a forklift.
- Prior or current forklift certification.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse work environment.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to frequently lift boxes that weigh up to 30 lbs.
- Repetitive use of the hands and arms in packing our finished product.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, 3 hours.
- Must be able to work in a non-climate controlled environment which is hot in the summer months and comfortable during cooler weather.
