What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Maintenance Technician position at Morningside College?
Morningside University is accepting applications for the full time position of General Maintenance Technician. This position is responsible for general maintenance and repairs for the buildings and grounds.
Responsibilities:
- Maintenance of buildings including minor electrical and plumbing repairs
- Availability to follow the on call schedule as needed
- General Carpentry skills – Repairs to locks, closets, furniture, doors etc…
- General Painting skills- patching and repairing walls, painting rooms of various sizes, maintain painting equipment and inventories of paint and supplies.
- General Grounds maintenance - litter control, salting when necessary
- General HVAC maintenance- coil washing, filter changing, belt maintenance
- Snow removal of sidewalks, driveways and parking lots
- Completion of various maintenance duties and tasks as needed by the work order system
Qualifications:
- Completes work orders in a timely and efficient manner, to the standards set by the University
- Maintains a positive working relationship with students, parents, faculty and staff
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and work well with others
- Ability to use general tools and equipment
- Ability to lift/carry heavy items
