What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Advisor position at Morningside University?
Morningside University is accepting applications for the part-time, grant-funded position of Student Advisor in the Sharon Walker School of Education to support the implementation and operation of Project Connect, a U.S. Department of Education grant awarded to Morningside University for the period of September 2021–2026 as part of the English Language Acquisition: National Professional Development (NPD) program. Project Connect provides teacher licensure and ESL endorsement pathways and professional development activities intended to improve instruction for English Learners (ELs).
The Project Connect Student Advisor discusses academic progress and goals with advisees and assists them in navigating the online system and services. The advisor leads new student orientation and confirms that students understand their programs of study and supports them in creating a unique schedule that meets their personal and professional goals. The Advisor regularly reviews the advisee’s progress through the selected program.

Responsibilities:
- Advise undergraduate and graduate students participating in Project Connect programs
- Coordinate correspondence to students with other staff members
- Maintain personal advising and orientation Moodle site
- Monitor student progress in Project Connect programs
- Regularly communicate with advisees and program coordinator
