Job Description
IMP Note: 3 days onsite; 2 days remote; Vaccination required
12 months contract with possible extension
· 16 years of experience. Provides high-level architectural expertise to managers and technical staff.
· The Enterprise Architect (EA) will be mostly involved on the replacement project and other initiatives as needed. For the replacement project, the EA will support the ongoing Business Process Reengineering requirements and drafting the statement of objectives for the new system along with the team. They will also work on supporting the identification of a robust cloud based permitting solution with the rest of the leadership team. The EA will ensure that the proper accommodations for historical data preservation for the existing system are made and will support change management processes to facilitate the implementation of the enhanced system.
· The client has determined that migrating its legacy systems to an enterprise-class, cloud-based platform will enable it to meet these requirements and improve the permitting experience of its customer base.
· The delivery timeline for the replacement project is Jan 2024. The Enterprise Architect will be involved in all phases of the project.
i. Phase 1: Business Process Re-Engineering
Ø Task 1: Document the “as-is” business processes
Ø Task 2: Develop an implementation plan for recommended permitting business process and system changes (Current phase)
Ø Task 3: Develop the statement of objectives
ii. Phase 2: Issue RFQ for New Permitting Solution
iii. Phase 3: Onboard contractor for system migration, configuration, and integration
iv. Phase 4: Launch new system to the public
v. Phase 5: System maintenance and operations
· The EA will work on a variety of IT tools to aid in the design, development, testing, and deployment of Department’s systems. These tools might include enterprise architecture frameworks, modeling tools, business process management software, project management tools, cloud-based platforms, software development tools, data management and analysis tools, and communication and collaboration tools. These tools will help manage the projects' scope, schedule, and budget and aid in the implementation of the new system. The exact tools and technologies an enterprise architect will use will depend on the specific project that is used by Department’s technology stack.
· Departments’ will make the following stack available as necessary based on the requirements of the work of the EA.
Ø Modeling tools: UML, BPMN, etc.
Ø Project management tools: Jira, MS Project
Ø Cloud-based platforms: Azure
Ø Software development tools: Git, Jenkins, or Visual Studio
Ø Data management and analysis tools: SQL, data warehousing and BI tools
Ø Communication and collaboration tools: Microsoft Teams
Ø GIS tools: ArcGIS
