Innovation for Automation is looking for a full time Mechanical Designer located at 701 36th St. SE Grand Rapids, MI 49548. As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and products for a variety of industries. You will work closely with other members of the engineering team to create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and specifications. Your designs will be used to manufacture, test, and implement complex mechanical systems, so a thorough understanding of materials, manufacturing techniques, and design principles is essential. This position requires a pre-employment drug-screening, and a background check. With first shift hours, Monday – Friday.
Our Mechanical Designers Typically:
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 2 years of experience in mechanical design or related field
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing techniques
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Essential Functions:
- Design and develop mechanical systems and products using 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD
- Research and evaluate new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes to improve design performance and reduce costs
- Ensure that designs comply with applicable regulations, standards, and specifications
- Collaborate with other engineers and project managers to define project requirements and develop design concepts
- Develop engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials to support manufacturing and testing
- Conduct design reviews and provide feedback to improve design quality and performance
- Perform design calculations and simulations to validate designs and optimize performance
- Support manufacturing and testing activities by providing design guidance and resolving design-related issues
- Perform any Other Duties as Assigned
