What will you be doing?

From the moment you join us, you will be immersed in a team of exceptional consultants, project managers, and specialists ready to support you in your career. Alongside the team, you will be assigned to a variety of projects in your chosen area of interest, working to deliver sustainable outcomes for our clients and the communities they serve.
With guidance from a professional engineer, your responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Using modern Asset Management Systems and techniques to conduct analysis of pavement and other transportation asset conditions and to develop recommendations for treatments and funding
  • Conducting risk and resiliency analysis for clients as related to infrastructure management
  • Developing transportation asset management (TAM) plans for clients
  • Attending site inspections, investigations, and monitoring for pavement related projects
  • Actively participating in project, client and team meetings
  • Reviewing, preparing, and modifying designs and documents
  • Analyzing reports, specifications, and studies
  • Gaining exposure to project, commercial, and client management
  • Undertaking a 'digital by default' approach in deliverables
  • Actively participating in our 'Early Careers Professional' Network

As a civil engineer intern you will support the delivery of major infrastructure projects which may include:
  • Analysis and recommendations for pavement projects for state and local governments at a national level managing billions of dollars in transportation assets.
  • Analysis of large data sets to develop performance models for transportation conditions.
  • Support the development of Transportation Asset Management Plans (TAMP) for state agencies

To be considered for this 2024 position, you'll need:

  • To be pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering, from an accredited university
  • Demonstrable interest in civil projects through relevant experience, such as your field of study, internships, volunteering, or relevant association memberships
  • Methodical approach to problem solving to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail, with an ability to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred
  • Working understanding of relevant technologies, such as ArcGIS, QGIS, data analysis tools (Excel, Python, SAS etc.) and big data and data modeling concepts
  • Classwork and/or experience in transportation asset and pavement management, pavement materials, as well as pavement design and rehabilitation is a plus, but not required
