What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology position at Mount Sinai Health System?
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai through its affiliation with New York City Health Hospitals/Queens is seeking a Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with leadership experience to manage a multifaceted department with medical staff, which includes generalists and subspecialists. Staff also includes physician assistants and nurse practitioners. Currently there are Board Certified staff in the fields of Oncology, Urogynecology, Maternal Fetal Medicine and Family Planning.
The department has an integrated training program with Obstetrics and Gynecology residents from Mount Sinai Hospital New York and conducts extensive educational programs for Medical Students and Allied Health Professional students. There are also active research programs within the department and strong linkage with the Global Health Department at Mount Sinai.
The prospective candidate is expected to provide leadership and oversight of operations of the department including supervision of staff with respect to patient safety and quality of operations.
Candidates must be Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology with a valid New York State License, DEA and Medicaid number. Qualified candidates should have strong clinical abilities, teaching experience, communication and interpersonal skills. Prior management/ leadership positions and experience with academic medical centers is preferred as well as a background in Maternal Fetal Medicine or other special expertise.
We also offer a faculty appointment with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai commensurate with credentials, experience and qualifications.
