Position Responsibilities:
- Assist AVP of Engineering Services in administering and coordinating the engineering programs to maintain the Medical Center locations in an effective, efficient, attractive, orderly and safe condition.
- Coordinates the daily operation of the engineering team to make sure all locations and needs are covered on a 24-hour basis.
- Establishes and maintains work procedures and overall schedules for the Engineering team.
- Reviews departmental programs and makes recommendations to improve quality, patient experience, overall impression of the facility and cost of facility operations.
- Ensures functional areas of oversight are properly staffed on a permanent basis.
- Under direction and through coordination with the department director assists in implementing financial policies, cost controls, staff productivity and budget reviews for the Engineering team. Utilizes resources to generate a high impact and remain with budget figures.
- Reviews the selection of supplies and equipment in conjunction with the Administrative Director of Facility Engineering and Purchasing Department. Ensures required resources are available without exceeding the financial provisions.
- Work together with the Administrative Director of Facility Engineering to lead the development and implementation of job training programs for department staff as well as ensuring training is available and completed for all existing and new processes and/or equipment.
- Assists the Administrative Director of Facility Engineering in providing an effective and continous quality improvement program. Makes sure that all the Engineering team follows and reflects the Operation Excellence standards.
- Ensures proper documentation and maintenance of records that comply with Joint Commission standards, federal, state AHCA, FM Global and local regulations.
- Develop and maintain third-party environmental services contracts.
- Maintains upkeep of floors, buildings, grounds, loading docks, and lobbies to ensure proper maintenance at all times.
- Maintains the accuracy and timeliness of the department's activities and outcomes.
- In conjunction with the department leadership, monitors department employees activities by making rounds throughout the campus as frequently as required (at least 3 times a week); documents findings for further analysis and action through the Work Order System.
- Follows hospital's policies and procedures regarding Human Resources Management.
- Maximizes area's impact by ensuring adequate staffing levels and the most efficient organization and use of resources.
- Ensures that all procedures are carried out in accordance with company policy.
- Ensures that customers receive standards of service in line with the policy and strategy.
- Responsible for the completion of Performance Evaluations for the assigned team.
- Ensures that new employees complete general and department-specific orientation as set forth into the hospital's policies and procedures developed and supported by the Administrative Director of Facility Engineering. Documents all personnel actions and submits them immediately for review.
- Supports the day to day activities of the staff.
- Follows the National Patient Safety goals as required:
- Reduce the risk of health care-associate infections.
- Reduce the risk of patient harm resulting from falls.
- Follows Patient Safety goals as established by the department; supports effective responses to adverse and sentinel events; provides an on-going proactive approach to reduce risk; integrates patient safety as a priority into new and existing processes.
- Is available to participate as a member of either Team A or Team B of the Hurricane Activation Plan, as assigned.
- Reports incidents to the Director and/or Risk Management department within required timeframe in accordance with medical center policy.
- Uses systematic problem-solving process to make sound decisions in a timely manner.
- Responsible for coordinating, integrating service within department and with other departments using effective leadership skills.
- Maintains a customer focus attitude through spirit cooperation, pleasant and respectful demeanor, and helpfulness toward patients, visitors, providers, peers and employees.
- Complies with current Hospital security and safety policies.
- All other task as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 8 years experience in Plant Engineering Management. Healthcare experience required.
- Must possess a broad knowledge of healthcare industry compliance and accreditation standards.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
