Position Responsibilities:
- Evaluates, assesses and documents patient's hemodynamic response to therapeutic intervention by accurate cardiovascular monitoring. Reports abnormal rhythm to physician.
- Monitors, evaluates, documents and trouble shoots patients hemodynamic response with the use of cath lab specialty equipment.
- Accurately transcribes, reviews and carry's out physician orders.
- Assess and reassess as per hospital policy.
- Competent in the insertion of peripheral intravenous catheters.
- Monitors, evaluates and intervenes appropriately with patients receiving conscious sedation.
- Demonstrates appropriate safety measures as it relates to potential radiation exposure.
- Assesses and implements safety devices pre-intra-post Cardiac Cath procedures.
- Demonstrates proper groin management for arterial sheath interventions.
- Performs initial vital signs and admission history to include introduction to patient and family. Assessment of chief complaint and notification of physician within 15 minutes of arrival.
- Obtains and documents a complete nursing admission assessment, including physiological and psychological factors to develop a plan of care within eight hours of admission.
- Performs and documents an accurate systems assessment at the beginning of each procedure.
- Responds to diagnostic data and initiates appropriate action or intervention.
- Assess patient education needs on admission.
- Assesses psychosocial needs specific to patient's age, growth, and development.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- ASN required. BSN preferred.
- BLS and ACLS required.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience within a Telemetry and/or specialty area preferred.
