Position Responsibilities:

 

  • Evaluates, assesses and documents patient's hemodynamic response to therapeutic intervention by accurate cardiovascular monitoring.  Reports abnormal rhythm to physician.                                                                                                          
  • Monitors, evaluates, documents and trouble shoots patients hemodynamic response with the use of cath lab specialty equipment.                                                                                                                             
  • Accurately transcribes, reviews and carry's out physician orders.                                                                                       
  • Assess and reassess as per hospital policy.                                                                                                                   
  • Competent in the insertion of peripheral intravenous catheters.                                                                                                               
  • Monitors, evaluates and intervenes appropriately with patients receiving conscious sedation.                                                                                                                      
  • Demonstrates appropriate safety measures as it relates to potential radiation exposure.                                                                                                               
  • Assesses and implements safety devices pre-intra-post Cardiac Cath procedures.                                                                                                              
  • Demonstrates proper groin management for arterial sheath interventions.                                                                                                                                                                                                             
  • Performs initial vital signs and admission history to include introduction to patient and family. Assessment of chief complaint and notification of physician within 15 minutes of arrival.                                                                                                         
  • Obtains and documents a complete nursing admission assessment, including physiological and psychological factors to develop a plan of care within eight hours of admission.                                                                                                              
  • Performs and documents an accurate systems assessment at the beginning of each procedure.                                                                                                                  
  • Responds to diagnostic data and initiates appropriate action or intervention.                                                                                                                      
  • Assess patient education needs on admission.                                                                                                                       
  • Assesses psychosocial needs specific to patient's age, growth, and development.                                                                                                              

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • ASN required. BSN preferred.
  • BLS and ACLS required.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience within a Telemetry and/or specialty area preferred.
