JOB SUMMARY

The Retail Specialist at each gym location is responsible for the operations and oversight of the gym's Gear Shop. General tasks include but are not limited to maintaining the look and feel of the shop, defining customer service expectations, ensuring accurate inventory, and adhering to all company-wide retail procedure and processes. Each Retail Specialist is expected to be detail-oriented, a self-starter, and have strong communication skills. The Retail Specialist at Englewood, will be full time and expected to work desk, teach classes, attend weekly leadership meetings and other responsibilities.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES for Retail Specialist about 15-20 hours per week

  • Oversee in-gym receiving (Retail, Ops, Biz Supply)
  • Verify packaging contents and enter into RGP
  • Manage packing lists
  • Inventory spot counts to ensure inventory accuracy in RGP
  • Coordinate and lead Biannual full inventory
  • Negative inventory check
  • Warranty and RTV management
  • Investigating and reporting discrepancies
  • Back stock upkeep and organization
  • Customer order fulfillment
  • Special order management
  • Process and merchandise used returns
  • Merchandising
  • Accountable for shop cleanliness and maintenance
  • Maintain a featured product display
  • Walk through checks to communicate needs to the Front Desk Team
  • Keep Shop stocked and organized
  • Food/Drink
  • Ordering food and drink
  • Communicate needs with distributors
  • Maintain inventory accuracy
  • Communicate with team about orders and challenges
  • Team member training
  • Maintain, establish and hold accountable retail expectations to Front Desk Team
  • Re-train and provide feedback for Front Desk Team
  • Ad-hoc training for retail updates
  • Instruct and support the Movement retail customer service practices

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES for Front Desk and Instruction about 15-20 hours of customer facing work

  • Training level position: role model and lead trainer for other team members on how to provide an amazing customer experience.
  • Has advanced knowledge of all gym operations, programming, classes, events, and retail in the gym.
  • Capable of handling customer service and day-to-day operational situations at the level similar to Supervisors.
  • Delivers outstanding customer experience that helps inspire others to live intentionally and strive for personal bests.
  • Shows respect for others and makes progress towards the mutual sharing of feedback and concerns.
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset through a willingness to learn and a sense of curiosity for various other tasks.
  • Can handle accidents and incidents, tone setter for the team, self-motivated and holds themselves accountable.
  • Greets and checks-in members and guests to create an inclusive space that fosters a sense of belonging.
  • Shares openly and honestly about basic knowledge of climbing safety, gear, retail products, membership and pass options, and class programming for climbing, yoga, and fitness.
  • Delivers belay checks, conduct community and facility checks, and instruct Introduction to Rope Climbing and Bouldering classes.
  • Regularly hosts successful community events/meet-ups based on the goals of the gym.
  • Attend weekly leadership meetings

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Be passionate about climbing gear and self-motivated to acquire an in-depth knowledge of gear currently available
  • Maintain positive and empathetic customer service in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to develop and lead towards a vision
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Maintain a strong record of follow-through and effective communication
  • Passionate about climbing, yoga, and fitness within the Movement community
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word, and comfortable with data analysis
  • Experience with Rock Gym Pro or equivalent POS system preferred
  • Upbeat and adaptable attitude that fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment
  • Solid understanding of customer service skills that enable transformative, purpose-driven moments
  • Clear and effective communicator to support collaboration with others
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Problem-solving skills to creatively find solutions for customer needs
  • Initiative to complete responsibilities with minimal supervision or prompting
  • Comfortable adapting to web-based programs and registers
  • Experience in teaching educational programs and/or experience in the outdoor/climbing industry an added benefit
  • Regular evening and weekend availability required
  • 3 months of Front Desk experience with Movement or in the climbing industry preferred

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • This is a Full Time position.
  • Starting pay at $21/hour.
  • Benefits include free membership, free plus one membership, health care, in-gym discounts, guest visits, and retail discounts.
