The Accounting Director is responsible for the management and operations of the accounting, payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable functions for the Company. The successful candidate will be proficient in these areas, as well as enjoy being a confident and integral part of the Business Office operations. This is a hands-on, key contributor role, with great involvement with the development and execution of effective strategies and best practices for efficient operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain all accounting records, including ledgers, accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue distribution, fixed assets, depreciation, cost/inventory, property, payroll, and operating expenses.
- Manage all aspects of monthly and year end closings for financial applications including reviewing financial data, journal entries and financial reports.
- Manage the payroll function, including processing new hires, terminations, time clock, benefits, tax filings and payments.
- Manage the accounts receivable function and provide supervision for staff responsible for the day to day operations.
- Coordinate, review, observe month end physical inventories; insure observed inventory is priced correctly and agrees with the general ledger.
- Work closely with the Controller for long-term planning, budgeting, financial and operational analysis.
- Assist Controller with facilitating and managing external audits of company financial records including coordinating and providing appropriate and timely responses to auditor requests.
- Provide direction and guidance to all departments regarding accounting, accounts payable, payroll and budgeting policies and practices, and efficient control and utilization of financial resources.
- Stay current on accounting standards, federal and state laws and regulations.
- Recommend and implement continuous improvements to policies and practices.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in a lead accounting/financial role; preferably in a service or hospitality organization.
- Self-Driven, with strong expectations, accountability, and results orientation.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration skills.
- Supervisory experience.
- Computer proficiency with an emphasis on Excel.
- BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA preferred.
