MSC Cruises, the world’s third largest and fastest growing cruise brand is hiring a newly created role - Vice President of IT. The successful incumbent will drive the overall strategic design, planning, organizing and execution of all IT and digital\/commercial systems for MSC Cruises USA and Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve (MSC Cruises’ private cruise destination in the Bahamas). This leader will work in close collaboration with the Global IT organization and key senior stakeholders to support and enable continued growth for the business by delivering a seamless technology and digital experience for all customers, trade partners and employees.
Based in Miami, FL, this executive will report directly to the President of MSC Cruises USA with a functional dotted line into the Global CIO. The VP will also interact frequently with and be accountable to key US and global stakeholders such as leaders of digital channels, commercial, operations and support functions. The VP will lead a team of 13 projected to be 18 at the end of the year and be responsible for the future-state design, development and evolution of the technology organization.
10 years of progressive career experience managing complex technology organizations, in high-performing consumer-facing, multi-channel, branded services industries. Experience in the Cruise, Travel and\/or Hospitality industries would be a strong plus.Knowledge and understanding of Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) digital technologies (including but not limited to Marketo, Adobe, Sitecore Cloud, Salesforce, Google Big Query, Google Data Analytics Platforms), and general understanding of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Success-oriented behavior, tenacity, perseverance and proven track record of success in high-performing organizations.Proven track record of excellent project and program management effectiveness and reliability, with a strong focus on measurable business outcomes and results.Proven relationship-building, leadership skills, and service orientation, with an honest, straightforward demeanor.Strong track record of effective communications in large global organizations, with an emphasis on “no surprises.”Successful experiences managing IT organizations in global matrix organization structures.Strong business acumen and pragmatic, balanced, commercial orientation.Blend of strategic orientation and tactical effectiveness, with a balanced mindset.Self-aware and receptive to feedback.College degree in technology or related fields, plus an MBA, from top-rated, competitive programs would be a strong plus.
Lead IT strategy, development and operations across both enterprise and digital\/commercial systems for the MSC Cruises USA and Ocean Cay business units in close collaboration with Global IT, while maintaining a focus on guest experience and internal and external customer satisfaction.
Operates with commercial acumen (i.e., external and internal clients first).
Analyzes complex business needs around the best way to support business goals with technology solutions.
Seeks input from multiple internal stakeholders including Sales, Marketing, Revenue Management, Contact Center, Hotel Operations, Port Operations, Port Development, Finance, HR and others on their and MSC’s customer needs.
Strategically collaborates with the Marketing, Sales and Contact Center teams to technologically elevate the overall digital engagement and relationship management of MSC guests.
Partners with the Commercial and Finance organization to enhance the “back of the house” set of applications, systems and databases supporting the commercial strategy implementation.
Proactively connects with peers in other geographies and with headquarters in Geneva to share existing resources, identify and adopt best practices, find potential solutions and\/or collaborate on strategic projects.
Partners with HQ on the evaluation of the possible solutions for the technology needs of the enterprise.
Directs and prioritizes the workload of the IT organization for MSC Cruises USA and Ocean Cay, as well as our port operations within embarkation\/debarkation terminals in Miami, Port Canaveral, New York (and more to come in the US in the coming years).Directs IT operations in executing production tasks according to a documented schedule.
Produces robust timelines and budgets for each application release and implements effective project control by monitoring the progress of the implementation and reporting the status in collaboration with global and local IT resources, and other key stakeholders across the business.
Delivers best-in-class IT support to teams across MSC Cruises USA, Ocean Cay and our port operations in embarkation\/debarkation terminals.
Represents the Technology function at stakeholder or customer review meetings when appropriate.
Builds an organizational structure and team that meets future business goals with the optimal mix of internal and external resources.
Recruits, motivates, develops and retains a high-performance IT and Digital organization.
Performs salary administration, conducts interviews and makes recommendations for new hires, consultants and\/or replacement personnel.
Directs\/develops a training & education program for their staff to ensure a modern digital posture and thought leadership on emerging technologies that can be value additive to the organization.
