What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rental Manager position at Mt. Bachelor?
Rental Manager is responsible for all aspects of operating Winter and Summer Rental, Tune and Repair programs at Mt. Bachelor, including West Village and Sunrise rental locations and West Village Tune and Repair shop.
Responsibilities include providing a safe environment and culture, ensuring high levels of guest service throughout the rental team, budget planning, staff management, labor planning, equipment inventory management, equipment and supply purchase and sales, product, pricing and revenue, labor and expense management, system management and staff training.
The manager will work with other departments to ensure proper collaboration on high-standard service for guests and employees. General knowledge of safety procedures and PPE use to ensure all employees are aware when working around any machines, power tools, chemicals, and hand tools. You must possess exemplary training and guest service skills. This position will be responsible for the departments daily cash control to include opening and closing procedures for POS's and securing of funds. The manager will oversee staff evaluations, on-boarding and separation procedures, maintenance and proper use of all equipment.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
Planning: Builds and follows operating budgets for all rental locations. Keeps adequate operating supplies on hand. Follows proper purchasing requisition processes. Provides a prioritized capital expenditure request for approval from Director of Sales. Oversees seasonal changeover including the requesting and testing of all department products and special programs such as Oregon Adaptive Sports, Ski or Ride In 5. Plans and executes on rental inventory levels for current and future business.
Training: Trains supervisors in leadership, expectations, Mt. Bachelor Human Resource and Accounting processes and development of other managerial tasks. Is responsible for the overall training program to include safety, customer service, binding certification and processes required by all Rental and Tune and Repair department employees. Provide ongoing training and develop, mentor and motivate employees for constant improvement of employee well-being and engagement, customer service and overall performance.
Safety: Provides frequent training on safe practices in the Rental and Tune and Repair departments and overall mountain environment. Exceeds Mt. Bachelor safety standards by fulfilling requirements of in Safety Committee attendance, Safety Huddle completion, Safety Matrix training, MSD compliance and any other area where safety can improve the lives of our staff and Guests.
Staffing: Oversees all onboarding and separation of department staff. Signs off on accuracy of time-cards and payroll. Provides performance review feedback as well as staff counseling statement with clear communication the Human Resources department. Assists with recruitment through public relations, networking and attending hiring events.
Delegation: Provide adequate authority to staff within defined limits. Give assignments that develop others while allowing time to concentrate on managerial duties. Develop systems to ensure that delegated tasks are done properly. Use daily “to do” lists and project schedules or other project management tools to accomplish goals.
Monitoring: Manage by observing and documenting staff performance and general quality of operations. Utilize POS daily and monthly reports, general ledger monthly reports, customer service scores and Employee engagement surveys to monitor progress and react accordingly.
Personnel Policies: Ensure staff complies with all personnel policies, including onboarding documentation, nametags, uniforms, appearance, behavior, PTO, sick leave and department communications including scheduling. Understands and supports personnel policies positively.
Influencing: Motivate employees and peers toward company and department goals. Ensure standards are met for daily productivity, guest relations, procedures, safety, cleanliness, grooming and uniforms
Communication: Responsible for communications to Resort Leadership Team and across departmental lines to work as a single team across the resort. Provide current company information to staff regarding events, schedules, policies, operations, and promotions. Effective and positive guest communications regarding refund and/or guest service issues and resolutions.

License/Certifications- Binding Certifications
Technical- Computer skills and knowledge of InTouch resort software a plus
Physical Capabilities- Able to ski/snowboard at an intermediate level. Able to mobilize to different areas of rental floors

Education/Related Experience:
Minimum education required- High School or Equivalent Required
Minimum time in related position-1 complete season in Rental operation with proven leadership ability.
Salary : $42,400 - $53,600
