Summary Of Job:
Quality Engineer (QE) supports inspection process and sets quality standards for analysis of raw materials or components, material in process, and finished products. Supports the development and implementation of the Quality Management System at all levels. The QE work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. The QE focuses on problem solving on issues independently and within a team environment. The QE helps to develop suppliers to meet expectations of internal and external customers.
Essential Job Functions:(responsibilities, duties and standards of the position, including supervisory level and reporting relationship)
- Supports the creation and conformance of quality measures across the business. Tasked with developing and enhancing both manual and automated tests and creates a Quality at the Source culture for products that the business offers.
- Helps lead organization in continual development of Management System, as well as obtaining and maintaining certification to the ISO 9001 standard and processes.
- Actively takes part in the discovery and design phases of new product feature development and promotes in process testing in an attempt to guarantee an error free final product. Identifies any potential quality issues in both the new and existing products, and works within system to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Ensures that validated deliverables always meet functional, design specifications and requirements of the products, and keeps team informed on the status of testing processes, raising issues when necessary.
- Develops and executes product tests and records the results during release cycles. Responsible for the identification of test requirements from defined specifications, mapping test case requirements, and designing test coverage plans. Reviews functional and design specifications in order to ensure that there is a full understanding of individual deliverables.
- Develops and helps maintain control and process for identifying gaging needs within production and their calibration
- Dedicated to identifying and utilizing problem solving tools for effective corrective actions and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Track record of developing suppliers from new part submittals to solving existing problem opportunities.
- Collaborating with Yamaha Marine Business Unit on opportunities for standardization and company growth.
- Maintains knowledge of the industry’s best practices and helps to introducing the most suitable practices to G3.
Qualifications and Skills: (in terms of experience, education & training)
- Education – Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Business Development, Product Management, or other related fields.
- Experience – At least 3 years of working experience in a Quality Engineering position within a business in a fast-paced and constantly evolving market.
- Working experience in an ISO 9001 or equivalent Management System.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as listening skills are imperative for this position.
- MS Office – MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint experience necessary for report generation and information communication to all levels of the organization.
- Ability to demonstrate a passion for research and analysis and track record of exceptional troubleshooting skills.
- Results oriented individual that is helpful and customer-oriented. A team-builder and team player, able to work on multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated and proactive tendencies that require minimal supervision, comfortable in a cross-functional setting and in a constantly evolving environment. Demonstrated the ability to stay calm in stressful and uncertain times, inspiring the same in the team.
- Likable and relatable people person with the ability to relate well with others. Forms strong and lasting connections with collaborating personnel, quality assurance leadership, and the business’ internal and external customers.
Occasional Duties:
- Travel to suppliers to facilitate improvements, 10% of time.
- Attend required meetings either via Teams or in-person.
- Present information and/or training materials at department and plant meetings.
- Advise and assist operations personnel with continuous improvement efforts.
