Muller is a full-service Site Work Contractor based in Northern Virginia. Our unique technology and systems-driven approach has led us to become a leading provider of sustainable civil construction services throughout Maryland, Virginia, and DC.

Our Falls Church office is seeking to hire a Full-Time Accountant who can perform various accounting tasks and projects, and improve current accounting process. In this role, the Accountant will assist Controller with daily project support, serve as a backup for AP and AR functions, and will be responsible for day-to-day duties associated with managing the financial obligations for the company. The ideal candidate will have proven accounting experience, preferably in the construction, real estate investment or skilled trade industry, is detail-oriented, possess strong analytical skills, and able to efficiently manage multiple tasks at a time.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform general bookkeeping tasks, i.e., recording accounting transactions, new accounts, preparing quarter- and year-end journal entries.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the general ledger for multiple legal entities.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements, expense and balance sheet accounts (security deposits, loans) for multiple legal entities.
  • Assist with collecting the year-end equipment financing info for reporting requirements (year-end principal and interest totals to reconcile financed equipment accounts).
  • Maintain schedule of medical and ancillary benefits and perform inter company reconciliation of benefits on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Assist with equipment acquisition/financing transactions.
  • Maintain fixed asset and prepaid account schedules.
  • Record cash receipts and make cash deposits (in office).
  • Assist with tracking CAM collections/budgets for multiple commercial properties.
  • Assist with filing Personal Property tax forms.
  • Assist/back up other team members with accounting, AP and AR duties
  • Perform ad-hoc reporting and analysis, as requested
  • Admin duties relating to filing, scanning, mailing

 

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in corporate accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred.
  • Meticulous organizational skills and experience working in a high-volume, deadline-based environment (requires the ability to multi task)
  • Microsoft Excel intermediate level (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
  • Strong mathematical/analytical skills
  • Good communications skills for coordinating and executing various tasks as delegated by the various team members
  • Must have strong data-tracking and data-filing skills
  • Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office programs (primarily Microsoft Outlook and Excel)
  • Experience working with QuickBooks or QuickBooks certification is a plus
  • Experience with non-QB accounting software (Deltek, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, etc.) is a plus
