Multimatic Product Services (MPS) specializes in providing account management/ sales and product engineering support internally to the business units and externally to the customer base. The Damper Technician is responsible for building dampers (shocks) and damper-spring modules, including physical assembly, disassembly and dyno testing, in addition to managing and maintaining associated parts, tools, equipment and workspaces. This role requires meticulous attention to detail in assembling complex, high tolerance components and managing a large number of parts. This job will include travel to proving grounds, tracks and facilities in US & Canada.
- Perform damper & damper module disassembly, rebuild, test, log and report in support of Multimatic and customer engineers.
- Manage and maintain dampers, component parts, tuning kit parts and tools inventory.
- Manage and maintain electronic, hydraulic and mechanical test and assembly equipment.
- Manage and maintain test data.
- Manage and maintain shop and support trailer supplies.
- Perform local delivery and manage packing & shipping of dampers, modules and components to customers and other Multimatic sites.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism in all interactions with both internal and external customers.
- Maintain, gather and prepare all relevant items required for tuning and support events.
- Provide the most accurate information possible regarding Multimatic products and services while delivering a consistent message.
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 5 years of building and re-valving dampers experience required; knowledge of suspensions, vehicle dynamics and electronics preferred
- Associates or technical degree preferred
- Compatibility with shop, manufacturing, track or trail environments, indoor or outdoor, all seasons
- Ability to measure and record tightly toleranced components, enter and read data on computer
- Ability to travel 20% to test and event sites throughout North America; must be ability to travel internationally.
