Position Description
The Accounts Payable Supervisor is responsible for managing the Company’s high-volume disbursements cycle, ensuring supplier invoices are recorded accurately and paid timely. Other responsibilities include the monthly accounts payable accrual, certain account reconciliations, and preparation of the annual Form 1099 reporting. Critical to the success of this role is the ability to coach, develop, and motivate the Accounts Payable team.
Typical Functions
- Assign work and manage workflow of the AP team.
- Assist the AP team in resolving issues that are delaying supplier payment.
- Review team members’ work for accuracy and correct account coding.
- Provide training and coaching.
- Assist AP team in invoice entry and payment processing, as needed.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Experience managing a high-volume Accounts Payable function.
- Understanding of general ledger accounting and account reconciliations, as they relate to accounts payable and month-end accruals.
- Minimum two years supervisory experience required.
- Must possess effective organizational skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting. Experience with Oracle or other large, automated accounting system a plus. Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Aptitude for problem solving, a strong work ethic, and dedicated to building a strong Accounts Payable team and a positive work environment.
