The Impact You’ll Have at Muve
Are you highly collaborative? Our Sterile Processing Technician is assigned full performance level duties responsible for decontamination, preparation, sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments, hospital instruments and medical equipment throughout the institution, utilizing infection control and safety practices during all phases of the process. This role is highly collaborative and key to make sure our Muve Centers are following policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile processing, instrument management, and OR logistics and scheduling
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, and take appropriate action. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- A sense of humor a must!
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years’ as a sterile processing tech in a Hospital or ASC
- Certified as a Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) from IAHCSMM or the CBSPD
Essential Functions
- Responsible for control of all parts of the sterilization process: Decontamination; prep, pack, sterilize; documentation of sterilization; and sterile storage including remediation of equipment failures and hazards.
- Assist with cleaning of operating rooms between cases and terminal cleaning.
- Adheres to AAMI, OSHA and The Joint Commission professional standards.
- Follows proper Standard Precautions while in the decontamination and sterilization areas.
- Attends Muve in-service training sessions including but not limited to infection control, patient safety, quality improvement as directed.
- Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment, as well as reporting occurrences immediately to supervisors.
- Performs environmental maintenance duties and assists in restocking as well as maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing and in equipment storage areas.
- Verifies that equipment functions properly, requisitions for equipment maintenance, repair or replacement, and removes defective equipment. Report defective equipment to supervisor or staff.
- Maintains a clean work area
- Assists with maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality improvement, safety, and environmental and infection control standards.
- Operate and maintain steam autoclaves, keeping records of loads completed, items in loads, and maintenance procedures performed.
