ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a Strategic Market Leader, focused on the vertical of Digital Gaming, Fantasy Sports, and Sports Betting. This leader is responsible for partnering with the business unit leaders in Fintech Banking (acquiring, issuing, crypto) to create growth strategies for the bank’s Digital Gaming, Fantasy Sports, and Sports Betting business lines. This Strategic Market Leader must be a SME, keeping abreast of industry trends, competitors, and regional and global issues. The strategic market leader is responsible for facilitating new clients wins and expansion opportunities with existing clients, marketing, business development and investment strategies to accelerate the bank’s growth in the vertical. They will identify key trends, analyze client needs, and evaluate qualitative and quantitative research to create strategies that ensure we build the brand of choice.

In addition to an ambitious, talented Fintech leader with a passion for these verticals, this role is responsible for prospecting new business while retaining and deepening existing client relationships. The strategic market leader will have the ability to forge relationships with the appropriate decision makers and thought leaders within any vertical related companies.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Work with the MVB Fintech Business Unit, appropriate decision makers, and thought leaders within any vertical related companies to develop and expand the bank’s digital gaming, fantasy sports, and sports betting programs, product plans, strategies, and tactics in coordination with all MVB business units and existing and prospective clients.
• Create, optimize, and drive long-term growth strategies for MVB’s digital gaming business, demonstrating an understanding of the business and stakeholder needs, and with nearer term plans to capture that growth.
• Manage a team of individuals working within the assigned business verticals, including day-to-day oversight, team member goal-setting, and bi-annual employee reviews.
• Prospect and qualify digital gaming and sports-betting client opportunities while working collaboratively with Sales and Risk Team members.
• Create sales presentations and proposals for utilization during the sales process, and for use in Senior Leadership, C-Suite, and Board Member meetings.
• Oversee the successful onboarding and implementation of new digital gaming and sports-betting clients.
• Contribute to the achievement of fintech revenue targets and deposit goals through disciplined weekly pipeline and forecast management reporting.
• Coordinate internal resources to accomplish FinTech and client objectives, ensure processing system performance standards are met, and that the client perspective is represented within the organization.
• Collaborate with Product, Operations, Compliance, Legal, and Marketing teams to review escalated or complex issues; consistently communicate situational status and resolution; advise on SLA performance both internally and externally.
• Continually evaluate and report on market intelligence and competitive landscape to develop business insights relevant for new business opportunities, state legalization expansion, product offering improvements and investment improvements.
• Understand legal documentation requirements and risk mitigation for associated products and services, particularly those involving funds transfer and online banking ensuring compliance with all established policies and procedures.

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

• 5 years of experience with sports betting, fantasy sports, casino or digital gaming businesses, analysts, or regulators required.
• 10 years of financial services industry experience in a managerial role is preferred.
• Familiarity with payments, including card, ACH, wire, RTP is preferred. Strong experience in payments is a big plus.
• Crypto, Web3, and Blockchain gaming exposure a plus but not required.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Client interface and relationship management experience.
• Solid track record of negotiating, structuring, and executing complex agreements.
• Experience with lead generation, prospect management, and relationship management.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills with experience presenting to C-level executives.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage new policies, procedures, and teams.
• Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Consulting background a plus.
• Frequent travel may be required.
