Summary
The Field Service Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the solar field service organization including the activities of work, forecasting, scheduling as well as portfolio management. The position is also responsible for improving profitability by maximizing revenue and managing labor and material expense while achieving operational performance that meets or exceeds corporate and customer expectations. The Manager needs to become knowledgeable about the business of solar operations, from contract to wiring, and from a financial and technical perspective. Responsibilities include but are not limited to department P&L, managing solar assets and the contracts that govern those assets, as well as superior performance in the field and the office, speaking with technicians and translating that to the financial owners and senior management.
Primary Duties
- Responsible for managing all O&M operations, including but not limited to: preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, performance optimization, inventory management, meeting contractual obligations, washing panels. Owns project schedule; responsible for conducting team meetings, delegating tasks, and managing project activities across multiple sites.
- Ensures all field service projects are completed within budget/deadline to meet customers' needs
- Contributes to the development of and implements policies and procedures for on-site safety, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Administers and ensures compliance with O&M and Service contracts
- Communicates project status, risks, and opportunities to senior management
- Responsible for safety and technical training programs, ensuring field employees are fully trained and qualified to perform their assigned duties
- Creates annual O&M, service and warranty budgets for review and approval by senior management
- Creates and maintains documentation regarding contractual obligations in the areas of customer and technical service
- Arranges and ensures the maintenance of up-to-date manufacturer and safety certifications of Field Service Technicians
- Manages policy deployment in the areas of safety, standards, training, quality, cost reduction, customer satisfaction, employee relations, and plant performance measures
- Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development
- Ensures compliance with Company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, OSHA, safety, and complete and on-time delivery at the lowest possible cost
- Determines operations headcount needs and ensures compliance with Company policies
- Manages compliance with state and federal regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned
Working Relationships
This position reports to the VP Field Services and will work closely with Schedulers, Client Managers, Safety and Training. Field Technicians will report to this position.
Compensation
The initial compensation will range from $86,400 - $115,00 depending on experience and qualifications.
Job Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree or its equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in O&M service management, project controls, scheduling, service, contracts administration
- Experience developing, implementing, and managing a skills-based technical service program with a distributed workforce
- Proven leadership and ability to orchestrate resources and motivate teams

- Detail oriented, ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, extremely professional, and customer service oriented
- Demonstrated sense of urgency in problem solving and commitment to deliver revenue/profitability to plan
- Key skills include energy concepts, financial analysis, basic knowledge of construction, electrical concepts, contract management, strong organization, and prioritization
- Advanced customer experience skills. Ability to make the customer comfortable and included in the process of maintaining and servicing their solar power facility.
- Proficiency in MS office products
- Some travel required
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Climate controlled office environment during normal business hours. May be subjected to inclement seasonal weather conditions if position calls for traveling to/from various locations.
Hours: Adhere to scheduled work times. Flexibility, additional hours and weekends may be required to meet business needs.
Position Location: Arizona or California preferred
Travel: Requires 25% to 50% travel to sites throughout the United States
Fit for Duty
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
