In this position you will be trained to learn Medical Receptionist, Medical Assistant, and Surgery Scheduling. You will help daily with these positions. You will also fill in these positions when someone is out sick or on vacation. This is a full time position and you MUST have Medical experience. Please see job descriptions below.
Medical Receptionist
The medical receptionist will be responsible for greeting patients and visitors, scheduling patient appointments, calling patients to remind them of appointments, collecting patient co-pays, answering and routing calls, making transactions, and keeping paperwork organized.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Greeting patients, family and visitors
- Answering telephone calls and direct calls to appropriate staff
- Scheduling and confirming patient appointments
- Receive insurance co-pay payments and post amounts paid to patient accounts
- Interview patients to complete insurance and privacy forms
- Compile and record medical charts, reports, and correspondence
- Scan documents into electronic health records
- Maintain work area in a safe, clean and orderly fashion
- Attending staff meetings as required
- Other duties designated by the supervisor
Medical Assistant
Assist physician with the delivery of patient care management
- Obtain and document vital signs
- Obtain and document patient history information
- Answer and return patient phone calls
- Help with scheduling patient appointments
- Remove sutures and staples
- Application of splints and fitting durable medical equipment
- Patient education
- Stock and order medical supplies
- Clean equipment and patient rooms
- Changing biohazard bags and sharps containers per proper protocol
- Help schedule and coordinate patient surgeries
- Scan documents into electronic health records
- Maintain work area in a safe, clean and orderly fashion
- Attending staff meetings as required
Surgery Scheduling
· Schedule and co-ordinate surgery procedures between patient, physician and hospitals
· Responsible for monitoring and maintaining and releasing block time.
· Discuss with patient pre operative and post operative instructions
· Coordinate with implant sales representatives devices for surgeries
· Ensure patient has proper Durable Medical Equipment for surgery
· Obtain all authorizations for surgeries and procedures/injections
· Check patient insurance benefits on all procedures
· Ensures that the hospital has all the required paperwork related to surgery including the patient authorization, MD orders, H&P, patient insurance cards, demographic data, and all other related data
· Schedule MRI's/CT Scan
· Able to anticipate needs before they become critical.
