The Ed Napleton Automotive Group is looking for our next Chief Financial Officer (CFO.) We are seeking an experienced and energetic individual with strong leadership skills to serve as the CFO for the company.
Located in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois (Chicago suburb) the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper financial operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency.
As the CFO, you will oversee all company accounting functions and related employees, interact, and strategize with the executive leadership team and report directly to the Owners. In addition to providing the financial oversight and direction needed for continued overall company expansion, acquisition, and growth, you will contribute to each location’s individual success by assisting them in establishing a financial budget and then providing them with the financial tools needed to achieve it. The position accomplishes this through a respectful, constructive, and energetic style, guided by the objectives of the company.
The Ed Napleton Automotive Group is a top 25 dealership group, with 50 dealerships throughout seven states, and a large real estate portfolio.

Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate directly with the owners and officers to establish cash and financing requirements needed for long-range business development.
- Produce yearly financial objectives in alignment with the company’s plan for growth and expansion.
- Prepare and submit, timely and accurate monthly financial statements and internal comparison reports and composites.
- Monitor and manage cash, reconcile bank accounts, review the general ledger schedules, daily and prepare weekly cash flow statements for all business entities.
- Establish and maintain all scheduled entries and accruals. Ensure standardization of accounting procedures across all dealerships.
- Lead comprehensive performance analysis across business units to identify opportunities for operational improvement and cost optimization; provide strategic recommendations to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.
- Serve as the primary financial contact with our legal counsel, independent CPA firm, auditors, and financial institutions.
- Review, negotiate and maintain records on all company purchases, contracts, and insurance coverages.
- Administer and oversee stockholder tax payments and drawings.
- Oversee dealership Controllers to ensure their efficient management of cash, accounts receivable and accounts payable, as well as the timely and accurate preparation and submission of financial statements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financing options, interest rates, and industry trends.
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations related to automotive financing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- 10 years of proven experience as CFO, finance officer or relevant role with a large automotive dealership group required.
- CPA required.
- Commercial Real Estate experience required.
- Experience with acquisitions and divestitures required.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business Administration, or related field required. MBA preferred.
- Highly proficient at Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional relational, communication & presentation skills.
- Strong financial insight and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and trends.
- Strategic thinker with a track record of driving financial performance and operational excellence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and best practices.
