The Position
With high expectations and hard work, Nashville Classical’s Middle School teachers will, continue the success of our award-winning Elementary School by leading a cohort of 75 scholars to unprecedented academic success. Our teachers will achieve this by designing curriculum, managing a classroom, and partnering with colleagues. Nashville Classical seeks educators committed to making history with joy and urgency.

The Responsibilities
1. Implement curricula and activities to meet TN and Common Core academic standards with joy and urgency, designing course blueprints, assessments, and daily lesson materials.
2. Pursue excellence by leading students to measurable academic achievements in classroom, state, and national assessments including TNReady and NWEA MAP.
3. Use formative assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.
4. Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions.
5. Provide consistent rewards and consequences to drive scholar culture.
6. Meaningfully engage families in academic achievement through phone calls, home visits, notes, and more.
7. Receive and implement feedback from an outstanding leadership team and faculty.
8. Participate in an annual three-week staff training prior to school year’s opening.
9. Commit to teach an extended daily schedule and participate in daily professional development.
10. Do whatever it takes to achieve the mission of Nashville Classical.
The Qualifications
The ideal candidate possesses
1. Full-time classroom experience in a school setting, preferably a high performing urban school setting.
2. Experience teaching their content, either in small group or large group settings.
3. A Master’s Degree in the content area is preferred; a Bachelor’s degree, teaching certification, and desire to make history is required.
