What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pkg Gatekeeper 3rd Shift $20.79+$1.25 Premium position at Nation Pizza Products?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Checks that the actual pallet quantity coming into a room matches the quantity on the barcode label.
• Prints out the Bill of Materials (BOM) daily for each product that will be produced.
• Requisitions materials and/or ingredients from warehouse personnel based on the BOM.
• Prints the First In-First Out (FIFO) report for all the materials and/or ingredients that will be used.
• Prints other related paperwork such as barcode information sheet and the case label verification form.
• Ensures the materials/ingredients coming into the room match the required materials/ingredients requested on the BOM. Ensures the item number and the name match.
• Ensures the materials/ingredients coming into the packaging room are not expired, are not on hold, are not open and are free of debris.
• Identifies and resolves discrepancies (by shift-end) between the barcode quantity and actual quantity by working with the Lead and Supervisor.
• Issues materials to appropriate job numbers during each shift.
• Ensures pallet quantities match tag quantities for any material returning to the warehouse.
• Prints and monitors bin and job audit reports throughout shift for accuracy, identifies and resolves problems immediately.
• Ensures staging bin is empty and correct at the end of each shift.
• Creates inventory MHU’s (Material Handling Units) for recyclable materials.
• Suggests changes to procedures that may increase the accuracy of inventory.
• Prints variance reports and check any inaccuracies that are outside of acceptable variance.
• Stages appropriate materials to key personnel when it is required.
• Ensure that work area is in clean sanitary condition.
• Meets established goals and objectives relevant to related work area.
• Ensures that the company equipment is used properly and maintained in good condition
• Suggests ways to control labor and supply costs as well as improve processes.
• Ensures that all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety and compliance with all appropriate legal and food safety requirements and a focus on continuous improvement.
• Ensures that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are followed.
• Follows all company policies & procedures as well as the GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices).
• Maintains a high level of safety awareness for an accident-free work place.
• Reports any unsafe or hazardous work conditions or safety-related issues to Management.
• Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
Education, Skills and Experience:
Education:
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Skills and Experience:
• One to three months of food manufacturing or packaging experience.
• Ability to work overtime, irregular hours or rotating shifts.
• Ability to speak, write and understand English.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of diverse individuals within the plant.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, formulas, and policy and procedures manuals.
• Ability to write standard information into related paperwork.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure including but not limited to pounds, ounces, grams, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and temperatures.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Applications.
• Ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a plant production environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job in the plant, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to airborne particles. Employee may be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures that range from below zero (0) degrees Fahrenheit to over ninety (90) degrees Fahrenheit. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. While in the plant, the employee is required to utilize the required personal protective equipment.
