The Director of Financial Analytics has overall responsibility for implementing strategies and practices to develop the company’s financial analysis and data analytics capabilities to generate enterprise value for the organization. They will be responsible for engaging with all levels of company management and staff to uncover business drivers and establish key metrics and data analytics strategies. The Director will develop the financial analysis and financial data analytics function into becoming a strategic business partner for the company through the introduction of analytics that will lead to data driven decisions from the analysis and predictions of data.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Value Drivers & KPI Metrics - Engage with all levels of company management to uncover business value drivers, key metrics, and data analytics strategies that will drive creation of enterprise value for the organization. Define and develop key performance indicators and metrics for those business value drivers in areas of Finance, Product, Sales, Operations, Customers, Employees / HR, and others. Incorporate KPIs and metrics into the standard monthly financial reporting package. Review performance against KPIs / metrics on a monthly basis and provide analysis that will drive data driven decisions.
  • Data and Business Case Models – Establish models to strengthen financial analysis, financial planning, resource management, and the evaluation process for funding new initiatives.
  • External Support – Serve as a business partner to all levels of management in providing general financial analysis and modeling support, on an initiatives-specific basis, to drive value, improve operations, and drive data driven decisions.
  • General Financial Analysis - Prepares financial analyses and management reports & presentations to facilitate timely and effective decision making. Financial analyses will include supporting areas such as financial planning, financial reporting, sales, product development, business operations and others. Focus of financial analysis will include, among other areas, cost-accounting, performance variances, labor, P&L, margins, pricing, products, ROI on strategic and operational investments.
  • Research – Leads research in developing best practices in areas of financial analysis, data analytics, KPIs / business value drivers, digital transformation, and others.
  • Other Assistance – Assist in developing and delivering presentations, preparing agendas for meetings, and recording meeting minutes and notes. Assist in preparing various financial materials and communications to internal and external parties. Assist CFO in researching financial topics.

Requirements:

  • MBA or MS in Finance, Accounting or related field (with an emphasis on statistics and analytics) from an accredited college or university
  • 5 years of progressively responsible analytics and reporting experience focused heavily on quantitative analysis, data-modeling, and logical reasoning.
  • Experience preferably with growth stage company which generated annual revenue of $50M to $100M from multiple product lines.
  • Experience designing, reporting, and interpreting key performance metrics in finance, sales, operations, employees / HR, and product.
  • Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint

  • Strong consultative and interpersonal skills, with a genuine ability to listen and comprehend problems quickly.

  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong presentation skills, especially related to building compelling presentations.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
