Job Posting for Cost Estimator at National Composites
General Responsibility: Role will have two main responsibilities. Primary Responsibility: Completing current cost and price estimates for new products using company-built tools. Second, Review historical costs and pricing of existing manufactured products and updating to current costs for pricing reviews.
Essential Functions:
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develop part costs using in house tools based upon customer supplied data for new business.
Review manufacturing cycle times with plant operations for agreeance.
Review manufacturing costs with management as needed.
Review historical part costs of manufacturing site and estimate current costs equivalent.
Review part costs of new program launches within 6 months of series production launch.
Support cost estimating of new products.
Determine standard costs and investigate variances with actual costs.
Solid understanding of Information Systems
Ability to navigate and or learn to navigate multiple ERP systems for information gathering.
Ability to travel and be on site at local and remote manufacturing sites for multiple days or a week at a time as needed.
May analyze and audit direct/indirect manufacturing rates at supplier facilities to formulate rate recommendations.
Maintain/create spreadsheets of cost models to support price/cost analysis, and prepare reports, charts, and graphs of findings.
Participate in cost and pricing reviews with management, customer, and or supplier representatives.
Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
Willingness to go onto plant floor to observe manufacturing processes and collect data as needed.
Multi-State Travel may be required periodically.
Applicant Skills
Associates degree in engineering preferred, would strongly consider degree in accounting or finance with experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
3 years as a cost estimator, cost specialist or similar role.
High Level of analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
High Level of presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
High Level of Microsoft Excel
Ability to use CAD software such as Solidworks, NX, Catia preferred.
