POSITION SUMMARY


The Manager, Chapter Relations supports the goals and objectives of NDIA and reports to the Director, Chapter Relations. If the Director, Chapter Relations position is unfilled, the Manager, Chapter Relations reports to the Vice President, Membership and Chapters. This position provides management, oversight and administrative assistance for NDIA’s chapters and is responsible for engaging and maintaining relationships with current chapters as well as supporting and facilitating establishment of new chapters. The position requires travel to geographically based chapters. The position requires strong collaboration and communication skills to ensure effective interaction with Chapter leaders as well as with NDIA’s meetings/exhibits marketing and membership teams to meet membership objectives.


RESPONSIBILITIES


· Serves as primary point of contact for Chapter inquiries, advice and support

· Assists in establishing and enforcing NDIA’s Governance practices for Chapters

o Ensures implementation of NDIA policies and practices

o Engages with Chapter leadership when Chapters do not meet governance requirements

o Coordinates with NDIA senior staff and Chapter leadership to develop and implement plans to address Chapter governance shortfalls

· Collaborates with NDIA leadership to establish short and long-term chapter strategy

o Exercises judgement when executing approved strategy to meet member expectations

· Provides guidance and training resources to Chapter leaders in areas that include: marketing and sponsorship, annual planning, strategic alignment, succession planning, chapter member recruitment & retention, and volunteer recruitment

· Develops agenda for annual Leadership Conference

o Solicits, prioritizes and integrates input from Chapter leaders into the agenda

o Builds support material, including briefings and one-pagers, for the Leadership Conference

o Presents briefings, answers questions and

o Identifies and tracks follow-on taskers from the Leadership Conference

· Maintains records of Chapter activities, participation, membership and leadership

· Monitors Chapter budgets and works with chapter leaders to ensure Chapters properly submit all required documentation within time requirements

· Coordinates marketing campaigns and communication efforts for Chapter activities

· Collaborates with NDIA’s Director of Public Relations to provide expertise, guidance and advice on Chapter communications through media relations, social media etc.

o Facilitates development and dissemination of press releases

o Coordinates and collaborates with other departments to develop membership strategies

· Monitors and manages overlapping outreach efforts with Membership Marketing & Communications, Exhibit and Sponsor Sales staff, Meetings, Divisions & Business Partnerships and other teams

· Updates NDIA’s website with Chapter events and information

· Leads NDIA Chapter Team’s engagement through NDIA Connect

o Assists Chapters in using Higher Logic microsites to build websites

o Participates in the NDIA Connect Working Group to sustain and enhance NDIA Connect, NDIA’s online Community

o Works with Chapters to build and execute online engagement strategies for Chapters

· Participates in Membership and Chapters budgeting process

o Adheres to NDIA and Accounting team standards when building budgets and while on travel

· Oversees NDIA’s Annual Model Chapter/Chapter of Excellence Awards program

· Manages annual ROTC awards program

· Supports the NDIA membership team by participating in Trade Shows

· Assists with pre-show booth details including accomplishing the tradeshow checklist as required

· Travels to support membership booth to include booth set up; day-to-day booth management; booth break down and post-event analysis

· Supports the NDIA membership team

o Responds to customer email inquiries and facilitates information sharing

o Provides follow-up on requests for membership information, clarification of member status, assisting with member access issues

· Supports data entry and Net Forum maintenance

· Supports Membership and Chapters team by performing other duties as required


QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL REQUIRED

· Bachelor’s degree

· Strong interpersonal and team building skills.

· Critical thinking skills.

· Strong written and oral communication skills.

· Information Technology skills

· Experience with Word, Excel and PowerPoint [Required]

· Experience with NetForum [Highly Desired]

· Experience with Higher Logic Communities of Interest

· Ability to work with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams

· Excellent time-management and organizational skills

· Detail-oriented

This position is primarily sedentary in the Arlington, Virginia office with occasional overnight travel and may require some bending and lifting.
