National Grid is hiring a Director of Leave and Absence Management for our Health and Wellbeing department in Northboro, MA.

This position is accountable for the development, implementation and management of the company's workers compensation, absence management, disability, drug & alcohol, ADA compliance, employee assistance and occupational health programs to promote fitness for duty and ensure performance objectives are met while achieving regulatory compliance.
Northborough, MA is the assigned work location, and flexible work arrangements are considered. This is not a 100% remote work position.A minimum of 25% travel is expected.
- Extensive interactions across all electric and gas transmission and distribution, non-regulated businesses and supporting service organizations.
- Responsibilities span entire jurisdiction including Operations, ServCo and non-regulated businesses impacting up to 10,000 employees.
- Extensive interactions with Safety, Health, and Assurance professionals in the US and UK businesses.
- Extensive interactions with HR for strategic alignment and case management.
- Direct reports - 7 with 10 personnel total and the overall Absence Management operating budget.
- Extensive interactions with Third Party Administrators, vendors, and regulators.
- Participation in assigned Emergency response role, for example storms, is expected. This may require flexibility to work during non-standard business hours.
- Comprehensive knowledge of US regulatory frameworks such as Family Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, applicable state or local leave laws, USDOT drug testing laws.
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable state workers' compensation laws and case management strategies with general knowledge of accounting practices for reserves, escrows, and payments as a self-insurer.
- Comprehensive knowledge of specific US medical regulatory data reporting and recordkeeping requirements, including privacy and retention laws.
- Experience in risk identification, performance management and reporting.
- Knowledge of gas and electric utility operations.
- Strong data analytics capabilities.
- Be able to lead executive management in the process of Absence Management.
- Present an appropriate professional image and be recognized as an ethical, credible leader in the eyes of leadership, employees, regulators, interest groups and other.
- Bachelor's degreeDegree in Health, Human Resources, Legal, or MBA preferred with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Graduate education is preferred but not required.
- A minimum of 5 years of direct people management experience is required.
- Experiencein Occupational Health, Integrated Disability Management, Claims Management, or related field is required.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across all company functions, communicate at all levels of the organization and interact with employees with a diverse range of backgrounds and experience.
- A valid drivers license with a safe driving record is required.
Salary Range: $165,000 - $194,000
