Job Purpose
- National Grid is seeking a curious, adaptable and results-oriented Technical Product Manager to drive development of an innovative software platform we call Gridstack that is at the core of our transformation. It will support an entire portfolio of applications and solutions for both our customers and our vast energy generation and distribution networks that they rely on every day.
- You will lead a squad within a larger cross-functional Product team using a unique combination of technical acumen and customer-focused thinking.
- You will inspire the squad to achieve the product vision by effectively communicating the product roadmap and strategy.
- You will work alongside the Senior Product Line Manager to deliver on the roadmap by writing descriptive, achievable user stories and requirements.
- You will promote agile working practices and partner with the engineering team to define and design and ensure the product vision is achievable. You will bring the customer voice to the conversation and ensure the delivery of value to our customers.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead a squad within a larger cross functional Product Team
- Act as the voice of the customer in the definition of innovative digital solutions
- Work with
- strategic design to gain an understanding of user personas, pain points and journeys
- Provide insights into product, technology, and market trends
- Develop feature lists, user stories, and roadmaps
- Gather and manage product feedback through surveys, concept testing, analytics tools, and A/B testing
- Monitor and report on product KPIs
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to scope, design, concept test and deliver innovative solutions
- Assist with the development of business cases and operating plans
- Assist in the development of materials to communicate progress to executives
- Deeply understand at a technical level the engineering elements of the platform
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
- Must demonstrate excellent communication and facilitation skills.
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
- Strong written and verbal communications skills (Agree w/ David’s point about this being assumed! IOW – do we need it?)
- Experiences with modern software development processes such as Agile and Kanban
- Ability to rapidly drive decisions based on a synthesis of input from technical, operations, and business peers and leaders.
- Self-directed and not afraid to make decisions amid ambiguous or incomplete information
- Technically savvy with a strong understanding of one or more of the following technology areas:
- Computing Infrastructure: virtualization, containers, Kubernetes, Openshift, Infrastructure as Code
- CI/CD, DevOps / DataOps: Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Git/Git workflows, Test automation tools/frameworks
- Cloud computing platforms - Azure/AWS/GCP
- Data/Database Technologies: RDMS/SQL/noSQL, Snowflake, Matillion, ETL
- UI/UX and Design Thinking
Prefer:
- 2 years’ experience as a Product Manager on a software product
- Certified Product Manager
