Qualifications:
There are no specific length or level of experience requirements. The applicant's overall background of experience, education and training must clearly demonstrate the ability to perform the duties described in this announcement such as, installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing high and low-pressure steam lines, gas, air vacuum and water distribution systems, sanitary and storm sewers. Must have knowledge of pipe welding techniques and practices in accordance with the American Welding Society.
Applicants must meet the screen out elements and achieve an overall score of at least fifty (50%) or higher
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.

Responsibilities:
Lead a work team in installation, maintenance and repair of high-temperature water and high-pressure piping systems such as hydraulic, nitrogen, oxygen, steam heating, and steam generating systems.
Lead a work team in the following preventative and maintenance actions:
- Install, modify, and repair new and existing high and low-pressure steam lines, gas, air vacuum and water distribution systems, sanitary and storm sewers, sprinkler and chilled water systems, other miscellaneous piping systems including laboratory and technical equipment such as hoods, stills, pumps, etc.
- Follow all safety programs such as lockout/tagout procedures and the confined space entry programs.
- Prepare, place, or move safety tags in accordance with established procedures.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and manufacturer's instructions Use shop mathematics to lay out angles, arcs, and circles.
This position is subject to emergency "out of hours" call back to the NIST campus.
