BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
In order to qualify for Health Science Policy Analyst, GS-0601, position level you must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. (This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained).
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-12: In addition to meeting the basic qualifications, you must demonstrate one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: analyzing issues associated with biomedical research programs and policies; implementing new or revised health science research policies; maintaining liaisons with groups having related program interests; and preparing documents, position papers, and reports on scientific initiatives and advances generated by the organization.
GS-13: In addition to meeting the basic qualifications, you must demonstrate one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of biomedical research programs; providing advice and assistance on policy issues affecting the organization and biomedical research community; making recommendations for long-range and immediate program objectives and proposals; preparing background materials for senior staff that capture the current state of knowledge in a policy area; and providing support to committees and meetings to address program and biomedical research policy issues.
