THE POSITION

Position Title Private Equity Analyst

Reports To Head of Alternative Investments

Position Summary

National Life Group is currently seeking a qualified candidate to join its Alternatives Investment team. Working on a small team and reporting to the Head of Alternative Investments, the Private Equity Analyst will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the investment process and management of NLG’s existing portfolio of private equity investments, totaling approximately $1.2 billion in current market value. The portfolio spans multiple strategies, including leveraged buyouts, growth equity, venture capital, private credit, distressed, natural resources and real assets.

Position Responsibilities

• Assist in the review and evaluation of new investment opportunities, including performing fund and company analysis, and preparation of financial models and analyses
• Contribute to the production of written communication materials in support of investment decisions, including investment committee memos and PowerPoint presentations
• Analyze and monitor existing portfolio investments, review quarterly and annual reports, monthly financials, etc.
• Provide support to senior investments professionals with the tracking and screening of new investment opportunities
• Develop and improve reports to provide portfolio performance data, market research and analytics, benchmarking, and other relevant information to senior management on an ongoing basis

THE PERSON

Pivotal Experience & Expertise

• BA/BS degree required. While we encourage applicants of all backgrounds/majors to apply, coursework in Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting is a plus
• Demonstrated track record of academic and professional success
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Detail oriented individual with a focus on performance and results
• 0-2 years of post-undergraduate experience; existing knowledge of private equity markets a plus
• Experience with data and financial statement analysis with financial modeling experience a plus
