What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN Surgery PACU (PRN) position at National Park Medical Center?
-Completes comprehensive physical and psycho-social assessment of patients; takes or reviews nursing histories to provide a basis of development of patient care plans.
-Implements patient’s written care plan, evaluates patient’s response to care provided and redirects care as necessary. Demonstrates proficiency in competencies for direct patient care and technical skills.
-Implements and monitors appropriate nursing care plan to meet patient’s needs; identifies expected intervention, and ensures vital patient information is passed on when patient care is transferred to another nurse.
-Administers medications, including IV’s as prescribed by physician or directed from physician preference card. Knows the actions, indications, dosage and route of administration on drugs prior to administering to patient.
-Demonstrates knowledge of media legal consequences of nursing activities; interprets diagnostic data and practices infection control in all actions.
-Participates in the health care education needs for the client and the family as appropriate.
-Monitors utilization of equipment, instrumentation and supplies.
-Maintains safe and sanitary work environment.
-Adheres to principles of aseptic technique.
-Serves as a positive role model for nursing and para-professional personnel, fosters positive working relationships with physicians.
-Collaborates with hospital personnel and physicians.
-Participates in evaluative mechanisms to determine unit’s quality of nursing practice.
-Adheres to hospital policies and procedures of National Park Medical Center.
-Performs all other related duties as assigned.
