ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE (Job Description)
The Driver is responsible for the safe operation of a bus, truck or other vehicle over established routes or within an established territory. Reliable, sustained attendance on-site is an essential function of the position.
POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Training)
Typically has a High School diploma or equivalent.
POSITION DEMANDS (Required Experience)
Must have at least 2 years’ experience as a bus driver and delivery person and be very familiar with local area where expected to drive.
Must have current Class B Commercial Driver’s License that meet’s NASSCOs Insurance requirements.
Must have a DMV CDL with a Passenger Endorsement.
Must have a current DMV CDL DOT Physical card.
Must have an excellent driving record
Must be able to gain access to all government facilities as required.
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
Must be reliable and maintain consistent work attendance.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Facilities Manager.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates a passenger bus transporting employees.
Drive trucks, according to state regulations to transport and deliver cargo or material.
Maintain telephone contact with base or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched to new location.
Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
Obey traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
Read maps, and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
Maintain records such as DOT vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements in accordance with regulations.
Load and unload trucks, vans, or automobiles.
Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers.
Present bills and receipts, and collect payments for good delivered or loaded.
Turn in receipts received from deliveries.
Attach fastening systems, position blocks and coverings around and over items to prevent damage to cargo or others during transport.
Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes in order to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
Clean, inspect, and service vehicle and report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicle.
Clean trucks and perform facilities maintenance duties as required.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Accountable to the Facilities Manager for all aspects of department administration and operation. Interacts internally with
other departments and externally with vendors and customers.

Must be able to access all Navy installations and other shipyards. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of weight. May include travel up to 30%.
