Special Procedures Radiological Technologist - CT
Responsible for the scheduling, performance of, and quality of CT procedures in the Radiology Department. This position provides services supporting the Radiology Mission of high quality, efficient care and emphasis on serving the unique needs of each customer. This position will emphasize customer service as a first priority, with each employee adopting the department’s “The Way We Care” philosophy. Demonstrates competencies defined (*) in CT Technologist responsibilities in providing age-appropriate care to patients from the age of birth through 21 years, and selected adult patients.
Schedule: (Full-time, Benefits Eligible) Monday through Friday, 10:00am-18:30pm, with Weekend, Holiday and Call rotations.

Responsibilities
- Supports the philosophy and objectives of Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Radiology Department. Interprets these to patients, parents, and hospital staff.
- Operates varied imaging equipment. Utilizes electronic information devices. Programs equipment for accurate imaging, determines correct anatomic area for imaging, and adjusts equipment factors for patient age, weight, size, and special needs.
- Identifies, prepares and administers contrast under the direction and supervision of a licensed practitioner. Performs venipunctures, accesses broviac and implantofix devices under the direction of a licensed practitioner.
- Follows department protocols for contrast dosage. Documents this information on the MAR.
- Schedules, prepares patients, and performs CT procedure in accordance with established protocols. Training and knowledge to modify orders to reflect appropriate procedure based on clinical questions and symptoms.
- Consults with Radiologist to determine additional or special imaging protocols, preparation, and imaging techniques.
- Sends accurate information and correct images to PACS for the Radiologists viewing and interpretation.
- Documents on and completes all orders following exams.
- Represents the department’s customer service focus for both internal and external contacts. This shall include appropriate speech, mannerisms, and personal presentation as outlined in the Radiology Department Code of Conduct.
- Maintains stocking of accessory supplies, patient care items, and cleanliness of the CT imaging areas.
- Performs required quality control of equipment. Initiates service requests and documents required information for Clinical Manager CT.
- Assists the Clinical Manager CT in collecting and monitoring QA projects within the section.
- Mentors and monitors new employees and rotating students as directed by the section Clinical Manager CT.
- Complies with radiation, magnetic field, and general safety policies.
- Complies with NCH, Radiology, JCAHO, CMS, OSHA, ACR and other regulatory guidelines and policies.
- May perform routine diagnostic procedures in the department as required.
- Performs procedures for research and testing, assisting the Radiologist in documenting and maintaining research information.
- Maintains knowledge of current applications in the field of Computed Tomography, electronic imaging through seminars, educational programs, and self-study.
- Performs other related responsibilities required to maintain section and department functions.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Must be a graduate of an accredited educational program for Radiologic Technology.
- Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required. (Active status)
- Possession of a valid “R” category Ohio Radiological License.
- Preferred advanced certification in CT or able to get certification within 1 year of hire date.
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in the Radiological Sciences; preferably in a pediatric setting. Minimum 1-year experience in CT procedures desired.
- High level of communication and organizational skills to meet the demands of a modern pediatric Radiology department’s patient care and customer service mission.
- Possess valid CPR certification
