What are the responsibilities and job description for the LED Engineer position at Nationwide Video?
Overview:
The LED Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the seamless set-up and operations of LED walls on show site as contracted by Nationwide clients. When LED Engineering services are not engaged, this position will perform quality control procedures in the time allotted in Nationwide’s QC Handbook on all rental equipment and assist the warehouse as needed. This position reports to the local Office Manager with dotted line responsibility to the Director of Operations.
Essential Functions:

Show Site Client Support including but not limited to:
- Troubleshoot and maintain the LED video walls to ensure optimal functionality.
- Setup and configure LED processors to ensure proper display of video signals across video walls.
- Assist and/or oversee the staging and building of the video wall, ensuring it is structurally sound.
- Verify and manage all connections, including data and power cables to ensure secure and reliable operation of the video wall.
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure timely setup and teardown of the video wall.
- Address any LED video wall technical issues that may arise.
- Provide guidance, support, recommendations as requested.
Quality Control responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Conduct quality control testing on all equipment in existing and new products in accordance with the “QC Handbook”, which governs procedures, specifications, safe practices, troubleshooting, testing times, etc. for equipment owned by Nationwide in the predetermined amount of time given for each item.
- Consult with QC Specialists and Senior Technologists on improvements to the QC Handbook and procedures.
Warehouse responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Support all warehouse functions including: palletizing, de-palletizing, in-bound/outbound order verification, shipping/receiving duties (including lift truck and box operation), etc. as needed.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in assigned area(s). Conform to 6S process.
Training:
- Maintain technician certification qualifications.
Technical Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of LED video wall technology, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Strong working knowledge of building LED video walls, ensure proper installation and alignment.
- Working knowledge of rigging and power concepts and applications to ensure safe operation.
- Proficient in handling data and power connections for video walls.
- Strong attention to detail with ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in resolving technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with client and team members.

Work Environment:
Work is regularly performed in a combination of office, event venues, and warehouse environments and is regularly exposed to heavy machinery, noise, outdoor temperatures, with possible exposure to dirt/sand/dust. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones, as well as high-end audio-visual equipment.
Physical Demands:
While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and required standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position with varying schedules:
- Client Engagements: Working time will include irregular hours during days, evening, weekends, and holidays as contracted by the client.
- Nationwide Schedule: Days and hours of office operation are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm, with a 45-hour work week expectation.
Travel:
Travel is required for this position as mandated by the needs Nationwide clients who contract the LED Engineering services. Locations and duration vary based on client needs with an annual estimation of 24 shows.
Required Education and Experience:
- 5 years of experience as a LED Video Wall Engineer in a live show environment
- 5 years of experience in performing QC functions, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair on AV products
- High School Diploma
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 10 years of experience as a LED Video Wall Engineer in a live show environment
- 10 years of experience in performing QC functions, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair on AV products
- Technical manufacturer certification (ex. NovaStar, Brompton)
- Engineering Degree or equivalent
