Assistant Manager
at Nationwide Vision Peoria The Assistant Optical Manager performs all the duties required of a dispensing optician, in addition to managerial duties. This
position is responsible for interacting with customers, confirming appointments, reviewing insurance information and
store upkeep. The Optical Manager serves as a liaison between our customers and the lab to ensure that orders are
processed timely.

Essential Functions Percentage
Customer service is the primary responsibility of this position : answering all incoming calls, scheduling
patients for doctors appointments, being open and honest in communication and maintaining a
friendly, pleasant demeanor with customers at all time. 25%
Provides support to customers in : making eyeglass adjustments, taking measurements, reading
prescriptions on the lensometer, timely notification of product readiness, proper handling of all money
related transaction, and completing paperwork necessary to place and process orders. 20%
Manages store personnel and ensures all associates diligently engage in person and over the phone
with customers. 15%
Processing and verifying all third party insurance payment information. 10%
This position will have access to patient information therefore a high degree of discretion and
adhering to all privacy and confidential / propriety company policies and procedures is required (i.e.
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, known as HIPAA). 10%
This position is required to manage all sales opening and closing procedures at the end of the shift.
Must ensure that accurate funds are collected and payments are made at the point of service. 10%
Responsible for communication and follow up with District Manager regarding store performance,
maintenance situations, associates performance, doctor and host store relations. 5%
Ensures work station / Optical Store is maintained and clean at all times. 5%
Supervisory Responsibility
This position supervises all employees in the store and is responsible for the performance management, hiring
decisions, terminations, recommendation for promotions, and coaching.

Education and Experience
Leadership or management in optical / eyecare preferred
Drive for results and proven track record in reaching goals.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Strong skills in supervising others, and mentoring them to generate customer satisfaction and sales.
Able to use computer systems for sales, ordering and timekeeping.
Polished customer service skills and a genuine ability to understand your patients needs.
Capable of resolving customer complaints if they arise, with tact and positive outcomes.
Must be reliable and punctual in attendance to keep store hours and coverage in the store.
An interest in fashion eye-wear and an eye for style is highly desired.
Must be flexible for scheduling, and able to work weekends and holidays, as well as special sales events.
Must be able to stand / walk / sit for increments of 4 hours or more.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment.This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as
computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type and Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work varies, must be able to work weekends.

This position is expected to travel less than 5%.
