NRDC is seeking a Senior Manager, Donor Communications to work with the Donor Relations team.
Position SummaryReporting to Assistant Director, Donor Stewardship, the Senior Manager, Donor Communications will focus primarily on donor stewardship and engagements and is responsible for implementing a comprehensive annual strategic philanthropic communications calendar for major and principal gift donors. The successful candidate will be a skilled written communicator who can adapt their writing style to different authors and audiences; have a keen eye for strategic segmentation and alignment; be up-to-date on the donor communication best practices; have extensive project management experience; and be a strong collaborative partner with many stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a stewardship communication calendar that blends print, digital and hybrid communications that convey gratitude, share impact, provide insider information, and ultimately increase donor retention.
- Conceive, manage, and execute strategic donor communications and stewardship touch points. Products may include stewardship letters, both print and email; digital newsletters; acknowledgement and thank-you letter templates; campaign and programmatic updates; talking points and scripts; event invitations; presentations; and more.
- Establish and maintain processes for philanthropy storytelling via digital, print, web and other media technologies. Ensure that gratitude and impact messaging are thoughtfully integrated into donor communications by offering guidance to the Donor Experience team and collaborating with Development and Communications staff.
- Monitor, analyze, and adapt to evolving changes in the areas of strategic communications, integrated marketing, branding, and other communication efforts/activities.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Commitment to NRDC’s mission and values.
- Undergraduate degree and 5-7 years of work experience preferred, including a minimum of three-year full-time experience on a Donor Relations or Communications team.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
- Must excel at storytelling and writing various types of communication in a range of voices and tones.
- Must be comfortable speaking with NRDC members and donors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (including word processing, editing, graphics), Excel, and file-sharing platforms.
- Proficiency with Asana or comparable project management software.
- Nonprofit database (CRM) experience, Salesforce preferred.
- Superior ability to perform work independently with meticulous attention to accuracy/detail.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize and carry out multiple tasks requiring rapid turnaround time, and ability to follow institutional procedures.
- Ability to maintain composure under stress and adhere to high standards of confidentiality.
- A collaborative, cooperative spirit; ability to be a team player.

We offer competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience. For this position, the salary is $95,000 to $105,000. Internal equity considerations will be reviewed before making a final offer.
