What are the responsibilities and job description for the Site Services Technician position at Natural Systems Utilities?
SUMMARY:
The Field Services Technician role is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain process and facility equipment in wastewater plants. This work is completed according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the company’s business goals and objectives. This is a mobile position covering the service areas of New Jersey and New York. The Field Services Technician reports directly to the Director of Site Services - Maintenance and Repair in NSU's Hillsborough Warehouse.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate hand and power tools of all types: mechanical hoists, core drill, hammer drill, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
- Assist with site preparation for various repair projects.
- Provide detailed notes within NSU’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) system on hours worked, parts and materials used, and additional notes on work performed.
- Assist other craft workers when needed in completion of work orders.
- Perform general preventative and corrective maintenance on treatment plant equipment such as valve replacement, pump replacement, piping repairs, blower and compressor services.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues with operations and materials, implement resolutions, and report any defects or unusual situations to the appropriate supervision.
- Work conscientiously and be aware of all safety hazards, ensure safety of others, and follow all NSU’s and client safety procedures.
- Available for 24-hour alarm response and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Effectively communicate the progress of repairs in a professional manner to employers, clients, visitors, or regulatory personnel.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Ability to work independently as required.
- Ability to travel within the Tri-State Area or other service areas as needed with occasional overnight stays for projects spanning more than one day when it makes economic sense.
- Maintain receipts and accurate records for fuel, mileage, timesheets, expenses, etc.
- Ensure adherence to current company safety training and standards at all times.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude with teammates, clients, regulatory agencies, etc.
- Operate a motor vehicle in compliance with all NSU vehicle safety policies and applicable roadway laws.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Valid US Driver’s License
- CDL license preferred
- Autocrane Certification preferred (NSU internal training provided)
- Forklift Certification preferred (NSU internal training provided)
- Ability to operate heavy equipment preferred
- Possess a general understanding of water and wastewater treatment plant operations
- Be able to operate a portable pressure washer and /or trailer mounted sewer jetter
- Maintain a 40-hour work week – Monday-Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
- Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as needed on an occasional basis
- Ability to safely and effectively work within confined spaces, as demonstrated through completion of NSU’s specialized training program
- Ability to safely handle chemical exposures, as demonstrated through completion of NSU’s training program in proper handling and safety protocols risks
- Exposure and ability to work under all weather conditions
